Excellent result in opening league game.

Briton Ferry welcomed Glais to Ynysymaerdy Road in this opening game of our league campaign. It was the Ferry that took the early lead with a penalty kick from Michael Arnold. With both sides finding their way in the early encounters Briton Ferry extended their lead with a well worked try scored by Kieran Nicholas which went unconverted . Playing with the slope it was the ferry who continued to pressure and extended the lead with a try from Taran Jones converted by Michael Arnold. The home team continued to have the better of play as the first half was coming to a close , and a further try from Eff (Itthichai ) converted by Michael Arnold  made the half time score Briton Ferry 22 Glais 0.

The second half proved to be a bit more scrappy than the first half , with Glais pressing on a number of occasions to close the gap and get on the scoreboard, but the Ferry defence was excellent and thwarted a number of scoring opportunities for the visitors. It was the Ferry then who extended their lead with another try from Taran Jones converted by Michael Arnold and as the second half continued another try was added by Cellan Davies, converted by Michael Arnold. With the game all but won at this stage frustration began to show by the opposition and the game ended with the Ferry comfortable winners on the day, final score Briton Ferry 36 Glais 0.

It was an excellent start to our league campaign, but I am sure it will be back to the drawing board in training on Monday and Thursday with our coaches working on some key areas where we can improve on this performance. We very much hope that the knee injury sustained by Marcus Boobier does not turn out to be as serious as initially expected. i
