Early cup exit for the Ferry.

In the first round of the Bowl competition we traveled to Bryncoch RFC, a local derby with bragging rights at stake.

It was the home team that took an early lead as the Ferry were slow to settle into the game, an unconverted try . The Ferry were quick to respond and closed the gap with a penalty from captain Michael Arnold. Both teams played some entertaining running rugby in the beautiful sunshine, the home team extended their lead with another unconverted try. Again the Ferry fought back and closed the gap once again with a penalty kick from Michael Arnold. Just as half time was approaching we scored a try from no9 Taran Jones , and the half time score stood at Bryncoch 10 Briton Ferry 11.

It was a typical cup derby with drama, niggle and controversial decisions being questioned by both sets of supporters, the game continuing in similar vain to the first half and the Ferry extending their lead with a fine try from wing Callum Williams. Unfortunately some key changes due once again to injuries sustained by Ferry players saw the game slip away. In the final quarter of the game the home side ran in three converted tries and were deserved winners of this cup game. The final score Bryncoch RFC 31 Briton Ferry RFC 16.

We now look forward to concentrating on our league campaign and look forward to welcoming Bryncethin RFC to Ynysymaerdy Road next Saturday.
